IUTAM Symposium on Interface Mechanics of Complex Flows and Soft Matter, interfacial problems in multiphase complex flows and soft matter are of fundamental importance for many natural phenomena as well as for a broad variety of industrial processes. The dynamics and stability of interfaces in multiphase flows have fascinated scientists and technological experts from multiple disciplines like mechanics, physics, chemistry, biology, materials science and engineering for the past decades. .. continue reading Interfacial fluid mechanics is crucial to the understanding of fundamental issues in complex flows and soft matter, such as instability, wetting, spreading, impact, rheology, etc., and also is essential to enable the practical applications over a wide range of length scales and across many areas of science and engineering, including drag reduction on the submerged solid surfaces of marine vessels and pipelines, hydrodynamic cavitation on propellers, manipulation of fluids in nano-/micro-fluidics and biomedicine, heat and mass transfer in chemical engineering and so on. The aim of this symposium is to provide a platform for the colleagues to present state-of-the-art research results and exchange insights, share experiences, and discuss fundamental issues and main challenges in the interface mechanics of complex flows and soft matter, which will facilitate collaborations and development on interface mechanics.
